Northfleet North is a deprived area of Gravesham, which sits at the heart of the many exciting new redevelopment programmes being planned in the North Kent Thames Gateway sub-region. It suffers from many inter-linked socio-economic problems that are likely to inhibit local people from taking advantage of the
opportunities that these developments will bring.

CSC was commissioned to review local needs and current and planned activity, and develop an action plan that will fully integrate local residents and the business community into the new opportunities that are projected to emerge from new housing, employment and infrastructure developments over the next 20 years.
As a cutting edge community and economic regeneration consultancy, CSC has a long record of developing holistic strategies that enable deprived communities to benefit from initiatives taking place on their doorstep.

CSC consultants undertook a wide ranging exercise to explore the views of local people, businesses and the voluntary and statutory sectors on the challenges and opportunities presented by living and working in Northfleet. On the basis of this, we were able to identify the key problems and issues facing Northfleet, and the financial and other resources that might be available to address these. By matching these two, we then developed an Action Plan based on the eight strategic priorities of the Kent Thameside Urban Programme, which identified:
- The issue to be addressed
- The proposed activity
- Delivery partners and funding
- Measurable outcomes
- Priority—High, Medium, Low and Quick Wins
This Action Plan was adopted by the Council as its lead document for the development of the area.
