| Background |
The ore Valley area of Hastings has a substantial proportion of older people, and is also becoming home to a small but growing number of people newly arrived in this country. The Oasis (Ore Advice, Support & Infromation Service) project is a small community-led poject that has received Big Lottery funding to deliver a befriending project that:
* Makes contact with isolated people
* Provides a social network for those living alone
* Ensures that access the full range of social services available to them
* Provides an advocacy service when required
* Provides support in times of stress (return from hospital, bereavement etc)

| Our Role |
CSC was commissioned to undertake a review of the first year's activities, and provide conformation that it was making the progress required under the funding agreement. We were also asked to make recommendations for building on these achievments in the second (of three) year of funding.

Our evaluation consisted of:
* A SWOT analysis with the delivery team
* One to one interviews with key players
* A questionnaire survey of local residents
