| Three Corners Youth Centre |
| Background |
The Three Corners Adventure Playground is a much loved, and well used play resource for young people, and
one of the few open spaces in a densely populated area of Clerkenwell in Islington. However, its facilities are
in an advanced state of disrepair, and the EC1 NDC Partnership commissioned CSC to develop a Business
Plan that would enable them to develop a multi purpose facility for young people in the area, with a mixed
focus on skills, enterprise and recreation.
|
| Our Role |
The NDC Partnership had previously undertaken a series of consultation exercises, and commissioned
architects to develop a Master Plan that identified space and developed an outline design for a two storey
children and young peoples centre, while still preserving space for an improved adventure playground and
games area.
CSCs role was to identify potential ways of making best use of the new Centre, and develop a Business Plan
that would:
Explore options for the use of the Centre, including opportunities for encouraging youth enterprise
Consider the potential ownership and management of the facility
Establish costs and funding needs over a 30 year period
Identify potential sources of generated and grant income
|
| Delivery |
The CSC team met a broad range of individuals working with community, private and public sector
organisations who all had an interest in supporting the work of the new facility, or who may be able to support
it in future. On the basis of this information, CSC developed a realistic and realizable programme for ensuring
that the new Centre could establish a viable future and continue to support young people in the NDC area for
many years to come.
