Oasis, Hastings

The Oasis project is a community resource in the Ore Valley area of Hastings, and has commissioned CSC to prepare annual evaluations of a Befriending Project that has three years support from the Big Lottery Fund.

The Befriending Project aims to support elderly and other vulnerable people from the Ore Valley estate by visiting them in their homes, and offering help with dealing with correspondence, small jobs around the house, ensuring they receive support from social services, or just providing some company and a chat.
CSC's evaluation methodology comprises of:
* A questionnaire survey of Oasis members
* One to one interviews with officials from social services, housing departments and others able to take a strategic overview of the project
* Discussions with the Oasis team responsible for delivering the project
We shall visit the project at the end of each year, and not only record and assess that year's work, but also record progress year-on-year. Ultimately, the project hopes to have demonstrated the project's value and so secure mainstream funding to continue its work.
