Etchingham Fund Raising

Etchingham is a delightful village in rural Sussex where social activities are severely constrained by a lack of resources. CSC are working with the Etchingham Trust for Sport and Recreation (ETSR) and the Parish Council in order to develop new community facilities that will provide a new heart for the village.

The current village hall was built just after the First World War, and is cold, damp and suffering subsidence; Etchingham Primary School relies on "temporary" cabins to house most of its pupils; and the village has no indoor or outdoor sports facilities.

ETSR was formed in 1998 in order to design and deliver a scheme that would eventually develop a new school, hall, sports facilities and separate accommodation for the play group. After nearly 15 years of negotiation with the Parish, District and County Councils, with the Diocese of Chichester, the landowner and developer, the scheme is now underway and will be completed early in 2015.

CSC is working with ETSR and the Parish Council in order to ensure that sufficient funding is available to complete the community facilities and to ensure that it and the sports facilities are properly equipped.

Offers in excess of £60,000 grant funding have so far been secured, and we are continuing to establish new links with potential funders.
